London Chinese Film Festival 2007: Environment and Conservation

London Chinese Film Festival 2007: Environment and ConservationChina’s miraculous economic growth over the last two decades is literally changing the face of the country. The resulting challenges to conservation and the environment have captured the attention of Chinese filmmakers.  They are the focus of this year’s annual London Chinese Film Festival. From the pressures on the grasslands of Inner Mongolia in SEASON OF THE HORSE , to the flooding following the construction of the Three Gorges Dam documented in BEFORE THE FLOOD and including the demolition of old housing to make way for Shanghai offices in NOSTALGIA , the price to be paid for development  is animating the conscience and creativity of Chinese cinema.

The London Chinese Film Festival aims to educate, enlighten and entertain audiences about Chinese culture through the medium of film and to invite dialogue about culturally diverse issues and to bring to audience a wide variety of films that would not otherwise be screened in the UK. For this objective the range of cinema are mainly selected from productions made in China and by Chinese Diaspora filmmakers all over the world.

Please check the film section for more information on the films featured in the programme, click read more for dates.
